Medieval festivals in Malta

1 medieval festivals in Malta with dates for 2026–2027 — where they happen, when, and how to choose.

Mdina, the walled old capital in the middle of Malta, is called the Silent City and is closed to cars. The Medieval Mdina Festival fills it for a spring weekend every second year with falconers in the squares, flag-throwers and drummers in the lanes, sword fights inside the bastions and street scenes set in the years when Sicily and Aragon ruled the island. Past editions charged a small gate fee. Go in the evening, when the streets are lit by torches and the silence has been given the weekend off. Park in Rabat or bus there from Valletta; the main gate is a few minutes’ walk. Dates are provisional until the council announces them, so check before you book flights.
