Tallinn’s Old Town needs no festival to look the part: 1.9 km of wall and twenty towers still stand, and the pharmacy on Town Hall Square has been trading since at least 1422. Tallinn Old Town Days (Tallinna Vanalinna Päevad) is the weekend in early June when the city opens it up, with concerts on Harju street and from the balconies above, and doors unlocked on towers, courtyards and the Knighthood House. It is a city festival set in an old town, mostly free, not a costumed market with a knights’ tournament. Come for the open doors and the light, which at that latitude in June barely goes. Every venue is within a quarter-hour’s walk of the ferry terminals.

    Tallinn's Christmas market fills the Raekoja plats, the Town Hall Square of the Hanseatic old town, around a single spruce from 20 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, daily 10:00–20:00, in what the organisers count as its 25th edition. It is not a medieval-themed market — the traders sell modern Estonian crafts and food in ordinary dress — but the square is, and the city's claim that the Brotherhood of Blackheads raised the first public Christmas tree here in 1441 is why it belongs on this site, with the historians' caveat attached.

    Tallinn Old Town Days (Tallinna Vanalinna Päevad)

    Tallinn Old Town Days is the Estonian capital's annual early-summer city festival, held since 1982, when around 300 mostly free concerts, performances, tours, workshops and open-door visits fill the streets, courtyards and towers of the UNESCO-listed medieval Old Town. The 2026 edition ran from 5 to 7 June with theatre and the performing arts as its theme.
