The market fills the Blumenhof, the square by the Stadtmuseum in the centre of Pforzheim, and the adjoining Barfüssergasse. The 2026 edition runs from Monday 23 November to Wednesday 30 December 2026, daily 11:30–21:00, closed on 24 and 25 December. In 2025 (24 November – 30 December) the season ended with a closing spectacle of music, jugglery and a fire show on 30 December. Entry is free.
The craftspeople are the core of it: pewter casters, a coppersmith, field blacksmiths, a stonemason, bead weavers, silversmiths, pipe carvers, candle makers and wood carvers work at their stalls and let visitors watch. Around them are a bathhouse with wooden tubs, an axe-throwing range and a hand-cranked chain carousel for children, and open fires where pork is roasted and mead is served. On the stage jesters and musicians alternate on the hour — from 15:00 on weekdays and 12:00 at weekends in 2025 — with a fire show at 20:00, and the organiser books well-known German medieval bands through the season.
The market is organised by the association Lebendiges Mittelalter Pforzheim, refounded in 2026 to take it over and expand it, and is counted by the city as the rustic counterpart to the conventional Goldener Weihnachtsmarkt on the Marktplatz, which closes a week before Christmas while the medieval market carries on to 30 December.
Pforzheim is on the Karlsruhe–Stuttgart line, about 20 minutes from Karlsruhe and 40 from Stuttgart; the Blumenhof is about 15 minutes on foot from the main station. The days between Christmas and New Year are the market’s own speciality — few medieval markets anywhere are open then.
