ConQuest has been played on the fields, meadows and woods of the Rittergut Brokeloh since 2004. Around 6,000 players settle the continent of Mythodea in themed camps while some 2,000 non-player characters, organised as hostile factions, oppose them; add roughly 1,000 traders and 200 crew and the event reaches its published figure of up to 10,000 participants. Play runs continuously, day and night, with padded weapons for the battles. The 2026 edition ran from 5 to 9 August; the organisers, Burgschneider GmbH, have set 4–8 August 2027 for the next.
This is not a festival you buy a ticket to watch. Participants register in advance through the organiser’s shop and stay for the week in costume and in character. The only route in for outsiders is the day ticket: 200 are sold on site each day on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday, medieval clothing is compulsory (at minimum trousers and tunic, or skirt and blouse, or a period dress), photo and video cameras and smartphone filming are not allowed, adults leave a €50 deposit refunded on leaving by 20:00, and day visitors may move within the Tross supply and market area but not enter the players’ camps.
What a day visitor sees is the medieval backbone of the game: a market town of traders and craftspeople, taverns, encampments of many nations, armour and costume of a standard that has made ConQuest a reference point for the European LARP scene, and, from the edge, the massed battles. The village of Brokeloh, first recorded in 1277, and its 16th-century moated manor add a real medieval setting.
Practically: the site is rural, with no railway station in Brokeloh (Nienburg is the nearest town), parking on surrounding fields and no reservations for day tickets, so arrive early. Day prices in 2026 were €30 for adults arriving before 12:00, €20 before 15:00 and €15 before 18:00, with children aged 6–14 at €20, €15 and €10 and under-6s free.
