The festival is held at the Centre of Slavs and Vikings Wolin–Jomsborg–Vineta, an open-air museum of reconstructed early-medieval houses, workshops and a harbour on Ostrów island in the Dziwna river, opposite the town of Wolin. First held in 1993, it reached its 31st edition on 30 July – 2 August 2026 under the theme ‘Beliefs of the Slavs’. The event is usually scheduled Thursday to Sunday around the first weekend of August.
Around 2,000 re-enactors from about 30 countries live in the settlement for the duration. Visitors can watch and try crafts such as bronze casting, pottery, weaving, bead-making and smithing; taste early-medieval food; watch replica boats race and sail on the Dziwna; follow staged rituals, storytelling and early-music concerts; and see the daily battle, in which more than 600 warriors in Slavic and Viking kit fight on the field beside the settlement. Archery, spear-throwing and games for children run throughout the day.
Opening hours in 2026 were 10:00–19:00 on Thursday and Friday (Friday until 19:30), 10:00–20:00 on Saturday and 10:00–17:00 on Sunday. A day ticket cost 35 zł, reduced 25 zł. Around 30,000 visitors attend over the four days. Wolin has a railway station on the Szczecin–Świnoujście line, and the island is reached on foot over the bridge from the town; parking in Wolin is limited on the Saturday, which is the busiest day.
