Medieval Mdina

Malta's walled former capital, known as the Silent City, sits on a ridge in the centre of the island. Its narrow streets, palaces and bastions were the seat of the Maltese nobility through the Middle Ages until the Knights of St John moved the capital to Valletta.

Medieval Mdina Festival

Mdina, Malta

The Medieval Mdina Festival brings re-enactors, falconers, flag-throwers and musicians into the walled streets of Malta's old capital for a spring weekend. Organised by the Mdina Local Council, it recreates life between about 1200 and 1500 with battles, parades, crafts and street scenes inside the bastions.
